When the test happens, your mobile phone or tablet will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s on silent. The message will make it clear that this is only a test, and you don’t need to do anything.

You can choose to switch Emergency Alerts off, but we recommend keeping them on — they’re designed to keep you safe by giving you a quick warning if there’s danger nearby. Only the Government and emergency services can send these alerts.
